Just because you are getting takeaway, doesn’t mean that you need to eat unhealthy. There are SO many healthy options available these days; you just need to be smart when choosing. Here are some healthy takeaway options.
My favourite takeaway! Japanese can be healthy but there are also some unhealthy options such as deep fried meats, dumplings, creamy sauces and white rice. Stick to sashimi, chicken, tofu, miso soup, vegetables and edamame. Of course a little bit of white rice is OK, but if they have brown rice – even better!
2. Sandwiches / Burgers
Choose a whole grain bread or wrap, with turkey, avocado and lots of fresh veggies and salads. Avoid creamy sauces, cheese, white breads and fatty meats.
Not the healthiest of takeaways, but of course some are better than others. Choose a thin crust with tomato base, lots of vegetables and ask for less cheese. Avoid all of the fatty meats such as sausage, salami, etc.
4. Steak Restaurant
Choose a small and lean cut of beef, with a side of steamed vegetables or salad. Avoid the creamy dressings / sauces, chips and alcohol!
Choose a dish that has lots of vegetables and preferably chicken or tofu. Avoid white rice and deep fried entrees.
This can actually be a pretty healthy and delicious take away option! Just avoid the white rice and too much bread / cheese. Most places now will offer a Mexican salad with brown rice, beans, meat, avocado, salsa and jalapenos. YUM!
I’m sorry to say but avoid the carb heavy pad thai or noodle dishes. Again stick to something with chicken, salmon or white fish with lots of vegetables! And avoid white rice and deep fried entrees.
