I loved watching Friends: The Reunion last year. It was so fun to see the crew back together, and I was reminded how wonderfully Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow have aged. Courteney has always been a beauty, and I’m excited to share with you how she stays healthy.

Even though Courteney is different than her character Monica, she still shares Monica’s need for organisation, which she jokes about on her Instagram. Courteney’s dedication to staying organised helps her eat well and exercise consistently. :)

Courteney Cox Diet

Courteney loves to eat and make healthy food. She often shares her recipes on Instagram, and these help us get a sense of what she likes to eat. In general, Courteney doesn’t deprive herself, but she likes to pick healthier options for treats. For example, she makes banana bread that is gluten and sugar-free, flavouring it with monk fruit instead of sugar.

Courteney’s priority with her diet is making sure that she eats lean protein, fiber, and healthy fat with every meal. These things give her energy and help her to stay full.

She tries to avoid eating too many carbs, although she still includes some grains, bread, and pasta in her diet. Instead, she tries to get her carbohydrates in through her vegetables. She says kale, spinach, broccoli, and asparagus are some of her favourite foods. Courteney has always been slim, and she credits her diet for helping her stay that way into her 50s.

Finally, Courteney likes to make sure she is getting the correct amount of vitamins and minerals. When she gets a physical exam, she likes the doctor to test her book for nutritional deficiencies. She takes Omega 3, Omega 6, and Omega 9 capsules, as well as Vitamin D and Vitamin D pills. However, she gets the rest of her vitamin needs through her diet.

What Courteney Eats for Breakfast

Courteney loves eggs, and she eats them regularly. Eggs are a good source of both fat and protein.

She also starts off her day drinking water. She tries to get in at least 2 liters (64 ounces) every day.

In addition to this, Courteney loves to make green juice. She even brought her juicer on a trip to Ireland! Her go-to green juice includes kelp, mineral powder, kale, cucumber, ginger, lemon, and apple. Over the weekend on Saturdays and Sundays, she has a shot of turmeric, ginger, Manuka honey, and lemon to start her day.

What Courteney Eats for Lunch

While filming Friends, Courteney would eat the same thing for lunch almost every single day with her costars. She would eat a Cobb salad with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans. Cobb salads typically contain greens, tomatoes, avocados, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and chicken topped with a vinaigrette. True to Courteney’s diet guidelines, they include lean protein, fat from avocados and eggs, and fiber.

Now, Courteney still eats some sort of chicken salad for most of her lunches.

WHAT SHE EATS FOR DINNER

For dinner, Courteney typically pairs a protein source, such as chicken, steak, turkey, or fish, with some type of grain and vegetables.

Although her dinners are typically straightforward, she likes pulling out the grill occasionally to make turkey burgers. Her burgers include:

  • Ground turkey
  • 1 onion
  • Cumin
  • 2-3 poblano peppers
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt

Courteney Cox Workout Routine

Courteney has always wanted to live an active life. She likes pushing her body and trying new things, and she feels her best when she is able to keep moving. For Courteney, working out is something that helps her feel better mentally and physically.

Because Courteney loves activity, she doesn’t stick to only one type of fitness training. She likes to try different things, including different types of cardio, boxing, Pilates, and strength training.

Like a lot of people, Courteney struggles to get workouts in during a busy week. She often starts working at 7 a.m., and she struggles to get to the gym at 5 a.m. for a workout. Because of this, she says she is better at working out regularly when she isn’t working. During an ideal week, Courteney likes to get in at least 5 workouts. Most of her workouts last about an hour, although sometimes they will be as short as 30 minutes or as long as an hour and a half.

The Tracy Anderson Method

Courteney regularly exercises using the Tracy Anderson Method. She says these classes have helped her lift her butt and sculpt her arms. In general, she feels like they have improved and changed her body.

I’ve written about The Tracey Anderson Method before, so you can read about it more in-depth here. However, in general, this routine emphasises using lots of small, repetitive movements to tone muscles throughout the body. The method also includes dance cardio.

Cardio Workouts

Courteney makes sure to get in cardio throughout her week. For example, she is a fan of going for walks or hikes, and she likes to play tennis every Sunday.

She also likes to run regularly. When she goes for runs, Courteney likes to mix running and walking. Normally, she will run for two minutes and then walk for two minutes, alternating back and forth for the duration of her run. Running and walking serve different purposes when it comes to weight and fat loss, so it makes sense that Courteney likes to include both types in her routine.

In addition to this, Courteney is a big fan of boxing. She shared a video of her boxing skills on her Instagram. In the video, she was training with LA-based trainer Marc Marco Reed. Boxing isn’t just a great form of cardio. It can also strengthen muscles throughout your body, especially your core. This is probably why so many celebrities turn to boxing as a form of exercise. It is especially popular with Victoria’s Secret models.

Pilates

Courteney typically does Reformer Pilates 2 or 3 days a week with Pilates trainer Jessica McTighe. Pilates can be an excellent type of exercise if you want to improve your core strength, strengthen the muscles all over your body, and develop better mind-body awareness. It can also be easier on your joints than some other types of strength training. :)

Budokon Yoga

Budokon yoga is a type of yoga that includes mixed martial arts and meditation in every class. Because it incorporates martial arts, participants can burn up to 900 calories in a class. Courteney isn’t the only Freinds star who enjoys Budokon. Jennifer Aniston also practices it.

Final Thoughts

In addition to working out and eating well, Courteney quit smoking when she was 34. Although it was really hard for her to do, she knows that it helped her look and feel much healthier! She also prioritises getting plenty of sleep and taking care of her mental and emotional health. :)

I love Courteney’s approach to her diet and fitness. She takes care of her body in ways that make sense for her goals and needs. Courteney knows what she values from life, and she is not afraid to structure her life in ways that help her achieve these things.
