Brazilian model Gizele Oliveira is known for her stunning beauty and fabulous body, which she showed off in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows of 2017 and 2018. 

Gizele is pretty open about the hard work it takes to be a model, whether that’s moving away from her home country to the United States or pushing herself regularly in the gym. She doesn’t shy away from sharing the effort she puts into taking care of her body. 

Here’s all that she does to maintain her looks and be the best version of herself.

GIZELE OLIVEIRA DIET

Gizele eats healthy, but she doesn’t follow a super strict diet. Instead, she tries to listen to her body and eat in a way that makes her feel good! 

She isn’t that into cooking and she says it is so easy for her to eat healthy foods at restarurants in New York. The VS Angel loves getting juices, eating plenty of vegetables, and drinking lots of water. 

Gizele also likes trying new food. Her favourite dishes come from Brazil, Peru, Italy, and Japan! And her favourite treat is brigadeiro, a Brazilian dessert. 

HEALTHY EATING IS A PART OF HER LIFE

In her Instagram stories, Gizele shared that she grew up eating healthy. Her mom regularly provided her and her family with wholesome meals. Because of this, Gizele’s been able to stick to good habits into adulthood. Eating well comes naturally to her! 

Gizele knows intuitively what works well for her body and what doesn’t. Her go-to snack is edamame, and she enjoys quinoa salad, eggs, and greens for breakfast.

FOLLOWING A PESCATARIAN DIET 

Gizele mostly follows a pescatarian diet, so she focuses on getting her protein from fish. She likes to pair her fish with lots of vegetables, and she eats this combination regularly.

A diet that includes plenty of lean protein, like fish, is good for your body in many ways. Diets high in protein will boost your metabolism, help you burn more calories while digesting food and it will speed up your body’s recovery after exercising. You can read in more detail about it here.

HOW GIZELE EATS LEADING UP TO A SHOW 

When Gizele prepares for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she doesn’t drastically change her diet. Instead, she continues to focus on eating plenty of lean protein and vegetables.

She says that she tries to cut back on carbohydrate-heavy foods, like pasta, bread, and pizza but otherwise her diet is pretty much the same.

Her approach to pre-show dieting makes sense. If you eat well for your body all the time, you shouldn’t need to make significant changes to your diet for a big event. The hard work you’ve put into eating healthy long-term will show! 

Instead of focusing on food, Gizele says she likes to increase her workouts and focus on stress-reduction. She spends time with friends, and takes long walks.

GIZELE OLIVEIRA WORKOUT ROUTINE

Gizele works out with her trainer at a gym in New York called the Dogpound. A lot of VS models exercise there – Bella Hadid, Lorena Rae, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, etc.

Gizele of course works out so that her stunning body stays model-ready. But that’s not the only reason. For her, exercise is mostly about staying healthy.

Gizele was always thin and tall as a child, but she says the modelling industry isn’t just about being skinny anymore. She says that being fit is the new skinny, and she likes that eating well and exercising are big priorities in the industry.

SHE HAS TO PUSH HERSELF

Unlike some other Victoria’s Secret models, like Gigi Hadid, Gizele didn’t grow up playing sports. She doesn’t consider herself a very athletic person. Because of this, exercise is something she has to push herself at. It doesn’t come as naturally to her as her healthy diet does. 

To make her exercises more fun, Gizele likes to listen to good music and she even brings her dog Bieber to the gym with her! 

Keeping your workouts fun and interesting is a great way to make sure that exercising becomes a part of your lifestyle.

SHE STAYS CONSISTENT BUT TAKES REST DAYS

In her Instagram stories, Gizele admitted that some days, she doesn’t want to workout, especially after a long eight-hour day. Still, Gizele tries to hit the gym at least four or five times a week. And when she’s preparing for a show, she works out every day. 

Even though Gizele is disciplined and consistent with her workouts, she tries to listen to her body. If she feels like her body is too exhausted, she lets herself take a day off.

GIZELE’S FAVOURITE WORKOUTS 

Gizele, like a lot of other models, is open about her workouts! She shares some of her favourites moves (and her favourite songs for the gym!) on her Instagram.

Most of the Victoria’s Secret models focus on a combination of cardio exercises, boxing, and resistance training, and Gizele does the same.

She says she likes to box and she really enjoys lower and upper body workouts.

LOWER BODY WORKOUTS 

Gizele uses resistance bands, sliders and ankle weights in her leg workouts a lot. She likes doing Pilates-inspired moves and she also does traditional moves like squats and deadlifts

Here’s one of her favourite butt workouts she does when preparing for the VS show:

  • Elevated glute bridge with resistance band
  • Single leg elevated glute bridge with resistance band and ankle weights
  • Donkey kicks with ankle weights
  • Bicycle crunches on bosu ball
  • Clamshell with resistance band

This resistance band workout includes some very similar moves to the ones Gizele shares in her Instagram videos. And it will help you tone your legs without making your thighs bigger.

ARM WORKOUTS 

To work out her upper body, Gizele uses weights, battle ropes and cable machines. Even though Gizele uses a bit more equipment for her upper body, you can still work your arms at home.

This arm workout uses resistance bands to do some of the same moves Gizele shows us in her video and it won’t cause bulkiness, regardless of your body type.

SHOULD I TRY GIZELE’S WORKOUT ROUTINE

If you have the same body type as Gizele (and she’s an ectomorph body type) feel free to do all the workouts she does. But if you are a mesomorph or an endomorph body type, weights might cause you to gain more muscle than you would like.
