What type of exercise do you do? Do you have any favourite workouts or gyms?
I am a huge lover of running. I always finish a run feeling motivated and less stressed! Which means it’s something that I’ll almost always include in my workout routine.
Recently I’ve also included a lot of resistance bands and ankle weights into my routine and I’m absolutely loving the results!!
I also incorporate boxing into my weekly routines as I find that as good change from my usual run during the week. If you are a Perth girl or guy, I highly recommend Hurt Locker in Claremont. It’s a great little boxing gym and is somewhere, where I always get a lot out of the workouts they do!
How many times per week do you workout?
On an Average week, with work and uni, I usually like to fit in at least 4 workouts! If I can fit 5 in a week I really try to, but sometimes I’ll run out of time and 4 is the best I can get out of that week.
When it comes to when I do my workouts, they almost always take place in the evening. I find this is my most active time of the day and what fits in with my schedule!
So my best advice would be to set a realistic time you think you’d get the most out of your workout and pick as many days as you think you can fit into your schedule! It’s all about balance and what works best for you!

You have incredible abs! Any tips for us ladies wanting to get abs?
Thank you! Recently I’ve included a few weights into my ab workouts and I’m finding that I’m getting really good results from it! I’m also quite conscious of my diet, so being conscious of my refined sugar intake and anything with dairy or bread with gluten in it I try to stay away from, I’m prone to bloating with these types of food so I find it best to be aware of how much I consume in a day! That has all seemed to help over the last year.
Did you do anything special to prep your body for the Miss Universe competition?
Boxing, boxing, boxing!! I can’t recommend boxing enough to those who want to get a lot out of their workout. I found the fast pace and technical elements of the workout a lot of fun! So you’d find me in Hurt Locker Claremont at least two times per week.
I also made sure I included at least 3 runs in between these sessions. By the time the finals came up I was super confident that I had put in the work and I was ready to hit the stage!
What does your average day on a plate look like? Do you stick to any particular diet?
I wouldn’t say it was a particular diet but I like to make sure I have a few of the same things every day!
- Mornings for me almost always include oats or eggs. Both keep me full for a lot of the morning which is always essential.
- Snacks in between I’ll eat fruit etc (but I don’t snack too often).
- Lunch is usually a wholesome rye bread sandwich, soups, or protein!
- Dinner on a plate will always have a combination of protein and veg, most days I’ll have chicken and I like to eat fish at least one day of the week as well!
Do you ever have cheat meals? What is your favourite food to indulge in?
Absolutely!! Life is too short to not eat cheat meals and enjoy food. I’m a big sucker for ice cream and chocolate, so once a week (usually weekends) I’ll indulge in my favourite goodies! It’s important to let go of the restrictions we place on ourselves during the week and let go of that routine for a relaxing weekend to enjoy yummy treats.
How do you stay motivated to workout and eat healthy?
I’m sure many of us know how hard it can be to stay motivated to keep going with those work outs and healthy eating, I’m no exception to this! But over the years I’ve found myself changing my mindset a little, I went from thinking of doing those things as a chore and a negative aspect to my day to instead something positive.
I now see my evening workouts as a way to de stress from the day I may have had, or to eat that healthy food because it gives me the energy throughout the day to concentrate at university and work. I no longer see doing these things as the only way to lose weight or to stay fit. It’s fuel for my body to give me energy and say healthy! That should be the biggest factor in staying motivated with your routine.

What’s your number 1 fitness tip for other young women out there?
Do something that works for you and only you!! I absolutely love running and I know quite a few people who hate it but force themselves to do it and they end up getting nothing out of their workout and leave less motivated than before. So weather its going for that run once a week, swapping a bad eating habit for a good one, or going for a walk with your friends. Do something active that you enjoy doing and it won’t feel like a chore.
I know it can be difficult comparing yourself to other woman and their fitness routines, but I encourage you to try not to. These woman aren’t you, don’t have your body or lifestyle. We are all unique in so many beautiful ways and I feel like we should embrace that. So do something active that you love and I guarantee you’ll feel more motivated than ever to reach your fitness goals!
