Irina Shayk Diet and Workout Routine

I’ve done a few posts focussing on models such as Josephine Skriver, Gigi Hadid and Taylor Hill. Another model has caught my eye recently, and so in this post, we are going to look at Irina Shayk’s diet and exercise routine.

She has definitely made her mark on the model world and is probably best known as the face and body of lingerie brand Intimissimi.

And when it comes to fitness, Irina insists that maintaining a sculpted body is hard work, even if you have great genes. 

Let’s check out what Irina Shayk eats and how she works out to stay in shape :)

THE IRINA SHAYK DIET

Irina is a major foodie but she also has a fast metabolism thanks to her “good genes”.

She doesn’t believe in dieting and cutting out certain food groups. She once said, “I really, really love food. And I don’t understand how people don’t eat. I do eat everything.” 

IRINA’S FAVOURITE MEALS

Irina was brought up on stodgy Russian food and she still loves traditional homemade pancakes and meatballs. But her absolute favourite meal is pelmeni (Russian dumplings) that her grandma used to make for her.

When she’s not in Russia, she loves nothing more than “a huge burger with cheese, French fries, lots of ketchup and mayo and a large Sprite.” She once joked she plans on eating not one but 4 hamburgers at the pre-Oscar party!

Of course, Irina knows that eating hamburgers and fries all the time is not the healthiest. So to balance this out and ensure she keeps her figure and her health, she’ll make sure to eat clean most of the time and to exercise regularly.

IRINA’S DAILY DIET

When she’s a bit more mindful of her diet, her favourite meals for lunch are soups and salads and for dinner steamed fish and grilled vegetables.

Also, when she’s eating healthy, she prefers to cook her own meals instead of going to restaurants.

She occasionally drinks alcohol and it’s usually just a glass of champagne to celebrate some big event. But she also makes sure to always drink lots of water to keep her hair and skin in good condition.

Irina’s well balanced diet and her fast metabolism really work well for her. I remember seeing a picture of her not long after she’d had her daughter and she really looked amazing!

But as she said it herself, if you want to look great and feel great, you also need to exercise regularly.

IRINA SHAYK’S WORKOUT ROUTINE

Irina is naturally quite lean so she doesn’t need to do a lot of cardio. This is great news for her since she said she doesn’t particularly like traditional cardio, especially running. 

However, she does enjoy doing workouts that will burn calories, but are fun at the same time. 

This is something that I tell my Lean Legs girls to do if they don’t like running. Find something that will still get your heart rate up but that you’ll actually look forward to doing.

IRINA LOVES JIU-JITSU AND BOXING

One thing that you may be surprised that she likes, is doing jiu-jitsu with her personal trainer. Even though it makes her exhausted after each session, she loves how challenging it is for her body. She tries to do it around four times a week when she’s at home. 

She may not be the biggest fan of running, but she still makes sure not to avoid cardio completely. Her favourite type of cardio is boxing. 

Boxing is also great if you want to tone your arms without bulking up and I know that lots of other models love it. Adriana Lima, Kelly Gale, Josephine Skriver, Gigi and Bella Hadid are huge boxing fans.

And when she’s in L.A. she trains in the Rise Movement Studio where she does floor exercises and weights.

TRAVEL WORKOUTS

When she’s travelling, she’ll often do simple barre moves when in her hotel room for at least half an hour, especially if she had a big meal the day before.

These exercise work her butt and arms, and also help to stretch and rebalance after being on a long flight. And it doesn’t require any equipment, which is great since she travels a lot and has a very busy schedule.

She always carries her workout gear and tries to get in a workout whenever she has a spare moment between shoots or events.

She loves Scuba diving, and enjoys being able to do this when she travels to a destination that is by the sea.

AN EXAMPLE OF IRINA SHAYK’S WORKOUT

Irina has been exercising with her trainer, Justin Gelband, for over eight years. He’s helped her create a simple workout routine that she could do in her hotel rooms while travelling. 

Here’s some examples of exercises that are included in this routine:

LEG LIFTS

If you have a coffee table (make sure it’s sturdy), place your hands on the edge of the table while you are facing away from it. Your legs should be bent at a 90-degree angle, with feet flat and elbows slightly bent. It’s almost like you sitting, but just not on the table.

Lift one of your legs up as far as you can toward your chest, and then release it slowly back down to the ground. Keeping your core engaged, do this with both legs and repeat around 15-20 times.

INNER THIGH STRETCHES

This is one you can do from the comfort of your own bed! You’ll just need a towel. Lie down with legs stretched in front and hook a towel over the arch of one of your feet. Hold the ends of the towel in your hands and pull your foot up toward you. Then, steer your leg out to the side and back in again. Do this 15-20 times with each leg.

HAMSTRING STRETCHES

Staying on the bed, cross your right ankle over your left knee, and then hug your left leg toward your chest. You can do this by holding both hands behind your left thigh. With your toes pointed, raise your left leg up toward the ceiling and then back down again. Do this 15-20 times on each leg.

CHAIR SQUATS

This can be done at a chair/desk in a hotel room or at your home. Pull the chair away from the desk so that there is room for you to stand in between. Stand with your knees slightly bent and your feet together. Your arms should be straight above your head with the palms of your hands touching together.

Bend your knees as if you were going to sit down on the chair or you are doing a small squat, but don’t sit on the chair. Keeping your back aligned and your core engaged, you should attempt to do this 15-20 times.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Irina Shayk diet and workout routine may not be as intense as some of the other models that I’ve looked into recently. But I love her honesty and the fact that she exercise regularly.

    what is her body type plus is there really such things as being a mix of two body types?

      Irina is a mesomorph. Your body type depends on a lot of factors like your physical attributes, how fast you build muscle or lose/gain weight that’s why some girls can be a mix of two body types. :)
