It’s the season for Victoria Secret models! I’ve already written about the super sexy models and sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, but today I’m going to write about Danish supermodel Josephine Skriver. You probably know who Josephine is already, but here’s a little background:

Clearly, this lady has some good things going for her. She’s beautiful, goes on amazing adventures (just look at her Instagram), and is diligent. Of course, she has great genetics, but she also has worked very hard to get where she is at now.

Let’s learn about Josephine Skriver’s diet, fitness, and approach to health.

JOSEPHINE’S WORKOUT

SHE’S A BIG FAN OF RESISTANCE TRAINING

To sculpt her ectomorph body type, Josephine lifts weights. Her fellow model Jasmine Tookes got her into weightlifting, and the two women share a fitness Instagram account @joja, where they share fun fitness videos and other health tips!

Just so you know, I encourage women to use weights if they feel like it helps them meet their goals. However, if your goal is to look lean and not bulk up, lifting heavy weights may not be for you. But this really depends on your body type.

You might see more muscle development than you want. Because Skriver has a naturally lean body, she can lift heavy weights without looking bulky. She looks amazing!

SHE ALSO LOVES BOXING AND HIKING WITH HER FRIEND JASMINE TOOKES

Boxing seems to be a common thing for Victoria’s Secret models. Gigi and Bella Hadid box too! And let’s not forget the amazing Adriana Lima who also loves boxing.

I think this is great. Boxing is a great way to work your entire body, especially your arms while burning tons of calories. And for most people, it doesn’t make your upper body bulky :) 

Josephine also enjoy going to walks and hiking with her friend Jasmine Tookes and her dog :)

SHE ALWAYS MAKES WORKING OUT A PRIORITY

Even when she is travelling and jet-lagged, Josephine makes sure to get in a good workout. In fact, she knows her favourite gyms around the world, and she always likes to stay in hotels with gyms.

When she’s in New York City, Josephine likes to workout in the mornings with her trainer at Dogpound, a popular gym that other models visit often. She prefers to go first thing in the morning before breakfast so that she can make sure to fit it into her schedule.

Josephine has always loved working out. She liked playing sports, especially soccer, as a child, and she said running is what gave her her “fashion body.” Now that she models for Victoria’s Secret, she uses weights to add a bit of tone to her lean look.

Typically, Josephine works out 5 days a week for an hour each time, but she listens to her body if she needs an occasional day off.

HERE ARE SOME OF JOSEPHINE’S FAVOURITE MOVES

To create nice, toned arms, Josephine does:

  • Shoulder Presses
  • Rows
  • Bicep Curls

Remember, some of her moves aren’t great for every body type, especially if you don’t want to become too muscular. If you are an endomorph or mesomorph body type, I suggest avoiding the really heavy style squats and lunges to avoid bulking up. 

JOSEPHINE SKRIVERS’S DIET

SHE FOLLOWS THE 80/20 RULE

Josephine tries to eat healthy 80% of the time. The rest of the time, she allows herself to eat other food. She says that it is especially important for her to eat well because otherwise, she feels sluggish.

Josephine knows that she doesn’t gain weight very easily (lucky lady!), so she said she isn’t too concerned about eating burgers or other junk food. Instead, she chooses not to eat them because they make her feel bad. She’d rather feel healthy!

SHE DOESN’T BELIEVE IN DIETING

Josephine says that diets aren’t a healthy way to live life. Instead, she wants to make sure she lives a lifestyle that includes lots of high-protein foods with lots of fruits and vegetables.

The model said that she believes that consistent hard work is the only way people are going to see results. This one of the things I love about Josephine. She promotes healthy eating and exercise as a long-term solution, not as a quick fix to look good for an event! You can look good and feel good with a lifestyle that focuses on exercise and healthy eating.

SHE LOVES HER CARBS  

In a video with her fellow model Jasmine Tookes, Josephine jokes with Jasmine about what their favourite carbs are, and how they could never give them up. Considering Josephine is an ectomorph, this makes a lot of sense. Her body type does best on a higher carb diet.

Remember, that if you are an endomorph or a mesomorph, your diets should be different. Endomorphs, you should be eating healthy fats and proteins and lower carbs. Mesomorphs, your diets should include some carbs, but there should be a balance between carbs, fat and protein.

JOSEPHINE’S GO-TO FANCY POST-WORKOUT MEAL IS…

Chicken and broccoli. Yes, you read that right, Maybe you wouldn’t call that fancy, but it is healthy and high in protein.

Also, Josephine likes eating:

  • Eggs with spinach and toast.
  • A handful of nuts as an afternoon snack.
  • Greens mixed with rice and various protein sources.
  • Yogurt with granola and fresh fruit. (This meal pops up on Josephine’s Instagram account a lot!)

What do you like about Josephine Skriver? When I admire her in the Victoria’s Secret Show, I’ll remember how her hard work and healthy lifestyle help make her look so beautiful! But let’s not forget those amazing abs! :)
