A word from Rachael:

”If you’ve been following me on Instagram, or reading my blog, you know that you girls are my main inspiration & motivation.

I love doing the Share Your Journey Challenge because it means I get to celebrate all of you girls. This time I got to talk to the lovely 30 y/o Bonnie from Australia who did two rounds of my 3 Steps to Lean Legs Program.

1. Did You Know Which Body Type You Are Before Doing the Body Type Quiz? Have You Ever Tried Exercising According to Your Body Type Before You Started the Program?

Bonnie: I didn’t know what body type I was before taking your quiz and have never exercised according to my body type before completing your program. It was amazing to see how my shape (legs and hips) changed in line with completing your program.

2. What Was Your Fitness Routine Before You Started the Program? What Made You Change It?

Bonnie: I have exercised regularly for the past 10 years and have tried everything from HIIT programs to running to boxing, PT, weights and F45 (sometimes all at once).

My mother-in-law came across your program on Instagram and showed me and at first I was skeptical that low impact workouts and walking could make such a difference to health and fitness so I didn’t start until about six months later.

I couldn’t get your program out of my head and saw that other girls had the same initial impression as me but tried it and got great results. I wanted to try a different approach to exercise (not be so hard on myself and enjoy exercising) in the lead up to my wedding (NYE) so I purchased the LLP e-book and started walking.

We were in the middle of our sixth lockdown in Melbourne so looking forward to my daily walks was really therapeutic.

3. How Did You Find Out About the Program and What Convinced You to Try It Out?

Bonnie: My mother-in-law came across your Instagram profile and showed me. I was initially very sceptical about the simplicity of walking (it didn’t seem hard enough!) – but I tried it out after I realised other women had the same initial reaction as me and ended up getting great results.

I’m so glad I did because walking has totally changed my body shape (legs) and now I will always incorporate walking into my exercise plan.

4. When Did You First Start Seeing Results? How Did You Track Your Progress and How Did You Feel When You Noticed Those First Results?

Bonnie: I started noticing my legs leaning up in October, about six or seven weeks after starting. I took photos every fortnight and measured around my hips, waist and thighs with a measuring tape.

It was such an amazing feeling to see my body shape change so significantly – especially as I have tried all sorts of different exercise programs and not achieved the same results.

I’m lucky that my weight generally doesn’t fluctuate but that means it can be disappointing when I don’t notice much change in my body – so it was such a satisfying feeling to see real change and know that what I was doing to achieve the results was enjoyable and sustainable!

5. What Was Your Absolute Favourite Part of the Program and Why?

Bonnie: The walking! Like I said, I didn’t really think walking could be so effective but now it’s a part of my daily routine and I really look forward to going for a walk.

I travel regularly for work and we often go away on weekends and yet walking keeps me motivated to exercise and move my body every day, wherever I am.

6. What Was the Most Challenging Part of the Program? What Motivated You to Keep Going?

Bonnie: I actually thrive on routine so I didn’t mind following the program.

The hardest part was probably trusting that walking would be enough but I kept going because of the other women in your community who had achieved great results. And I wanted to be in the best shape of my life for my wedding!

7. How Did You Feel After Finishing the Program? What Are Your Goals for the Future?

Bonnie: It was such a satisfying feeling to finish a program and actually see real results. I’ve worked out regularly for 10 years and never been so lean and happy with my body.

I loved your program so much that I’m still following it! I don’t think I’ll ever stop walking as part of my exercise routine.

8. Are You Happy with What You Have Achieved So Far? How Do You Plan On Continuing Your Fitness Journey?

Bonnie: So happy! I tell anyone who’ll listen about your program, especially if they’re feeling a bit disheartened with their own fitness journey. I say, start by going for a walk every day and see how it makes you feel!

Now that we are nearly into March and our routine is back to normal after our wedding, minimoon and the summer holidays, I’ll be able to concentrate on completing the program in full again – but walking is now a key part of my lifestyle and has completely changed how I view exercise (something I look forward to and no longer a chore).

9. Would You Recommend the Program to Your Friends? Why? What Makes It Stand Out?

Bonnie: Yes, absolutely. It’s different from smashing your body in HIIT/functional programs or at the gym and the walking is simple and enjoyable. It’s suitable for all abilities and all body types can achieve real results.

10. Do You Have Any Advice for the Girls That Are About to Start Their Fitness Journey?

Bonnie: Stick with the program and trust the process!

You will be so proud of yourself when you reach the end – but it just won’t be the end of the program/challenge, you will have developed a routine that is sustainable, enjoyable and suited to your lifestyle.

I’m so proud of Bonnie and so happy she will continue with my Program in the future! :)

Love Rachael xx

  1. I would love to see more success stories from older woman who are going thru a tough time with hormones and peri menopause. I’m 50 and am having such difficulties with my weight fluctuating based on irregular periods, sleep issues due to hormonal imbalance and constant cravings for food. Perhaps your mom, Rachel, can start her own program for women 50+??!!
